Why is the video player sized like that? Normally-sized videos look rather bad as the widescreen/theater mode adds automatically those black bars next to the video making it rather painful to follow what’s going on in the video. Videos with black bars under and above the video are the worst.

Thanks for your feedback. There are some height constrains in place to ensure that the user list under the video is always visible on screen. This should only apply on ultra wide screens or when you size you browser window with a very wide aspect ratio. You always see the complete video, nothing is being cut off, just sometimes borders are added.
I don’t mind if I have to scroll a bit to see the user list. This mode just makes it unpleasant to watch videos.
